For those who have been following the discussion around probable rule changes for judo contests, you will probably not be surprised to hear that the IJF have confirmed that the proposed rules will come into force in 2010 and be valid in the first instance until the end of 2012.
There are changes to the trialled rules – the “super shido”, whereby 2 leg grabs resulted in Hansoku Make has been made harsher. Direct leg grabs will now be an immediate Hansoku Make.
